Yes, hypnosis is considered a safe and natural process. During hypnotherapy you remain aware and in control the entire time. You are not unconscious and cannot be made to do anything against your will. Hypnosis simply guides the mind into a deeply relaxed and focused state, similar to the feeling you might experience when you are absorbed in a book, daydreaming, or just about to fall asleep. Because hypnosis works with the mind’s natural ability to relax and focus, it does not involve medications and does not produce physical side effects. Many people find it to be a gentle and effective way to address habits, stress, anxiety, and other patterns that may be difficult to change through willpower alone.

Hypnosis is primarily a state of mind rather than a physical state. Most people experience it as a feeling of deep relaxation and focused attention. During hypnosis, many people notice pleasant sensations such as heaviness or lightness in the body, warmth, gentle tingling in the hands or limbs, or a floating sensation. These feelings are simply signs that the body and mind are relaxing. It’s also very common to experience a sense of time distortion. For example, a session that lasts an hour may feel much shorter. While in hypnosis, you will still be aware of your surroundings. You can hear everything, speak if you choose to, and remember the session afterward. You are simply in a calm and focused state where the mind becomes more open to positive change.

This is one of the most common concerns people have about hypnosis. Many people imagine that once they enter a hypnotic state they might lose control or be made to do something against their will. In reality, that’s not how hypnotherapy works. During hypnosis you remain aware and in control the entire time. You’re simply in a deeply relaxed state where the mind becomes more focused and open to helpful suggestions. Most people describe it as feeling calm, peaceful, and very relaxed. You cannot be made to do anything that goes against your values or wishes. If at any point you wanted to open your eyes or end the session, you could easily do so. Hypnotherapy is simply a way of guiding the mind into a relaxed state where positive change becomes easier.

A hypnosis session usually lasts between 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the hypnotherapist and the individual’s needs.

Every person is different, so the number of sessions can vary depending on the situation and the goals you would like to achieve. Some people notice meaningful shifts after just one session, while others choose to work together for a few sessions to create deeper or more lasting changes. During your consultation, we can talk about what you're experiencing and determine the best approach for you.

Yes. Because hypnosis is a natural state of the mind, it can be experienced just as effectively from the comfort of your own home. Many people actually find it easier to relax in a familiar environment, which can help the process feel even more comfortable and natural. During a virtual session, I guide you through the process just as I would during an in-person session. You simply follow along with the suggestions while we connect through a video platform such as Zoom or FaceTime. All you need is a stable internet connection and a quiet space where you can sit or lie comfortably without interruptions for the duration of the session.
